Double Chocolate Spiced Cookies

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour1
2 cup unsweetened cocoa1 1
4 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

4 cups powdered sugar3 Land O Lakes® Unsalted Butter, softened
4 cup1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Glaze
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons shortening
Decorator sprinkles, if desired
How to make

STEP 1
Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, pepper, salt and cinnamon in bowl. Set aside.

Place powdered sugar and butter into another bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour mixture; beat at low speed until well mixed.

Divide dough in half. Shape each half into ball; flatten slightly. Wrap each in plastic food wrap. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or until firm.

Heat oven to 375ºF.

Roll out dough, one ball at a time (keeping remaining dough refrigerated), on lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with 2-inch round cookie cutter. Place, 1 inch apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 7-8 minutes or until set. Cool completely.

Combine chocolate chips and shortening in bowl. Microwave 30 seconds; stir. Continue microwaving, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth.

Glaze cookies; top with sprinkles, if desired. Let stand until glaze is set.
