Sharable Instagram Cookie Photos
‘Tis the season for cookies, and, most importantly, sharing. While sharing can take many forms, many people tend to share via social media. My Instagram feed right now is full of cookies, candies and Christmas galore. So, how do you share that perfect photo of your baking masterpieces?

‘Tis the season for cookies, and, most importantly, sharing. While sharing can take many forms, many people tend to share via social media. My Instagram feed right now is full of cookies, candies and Christmas galore. So, how do you share that perfect photo of your baking masterpieces? We’ve got a few tips to make your photography pop.
Lighting is keyNatural light is your best friend while taking pictures. As tempting as it may be, turn off that flash. If you have to walk over to a window or move your plate a little closer to a natural light source, it’s worth it.
Props, props, props.A plain white plate sitting on a table might look okay to you, but don’t be afraid to throw in a napkin or fork or to capture some of the action going on around you.
Filters? Maybe not.Filters can be your friend, but make sure not to go overboard. Slightly adjusting the brightness and contrast can make a huge difference. If the natural light has captured the best side of your food, feel free to go without.
AnglesCapturing the natural height and texture of your food depends on the angle you shoot with. If your food has more height (think a stack of cookies), it’s better to shoot straight on. If you just have one cookie, it might be better to shoot from top-down. Practice by taking images from all different angles to see what works best with your food.
Focus in on what’s important. If you want to showcase the giant spread of your holiday feast, by all means zoom out. But, if you want to see the crinkles on your Peppermint Chocolate Crinkles, or the sheen of the royal icing on your Ginger Spice Cookies, don’t be afraid to get close.
There are always more ways to make your holiday cookies look great in photographs, but these tips should get you closer to taking that “perfect snap.” If you’re posting your latest holiday creation to Instagram, feel free to tag us @landolakesktchn – we’d love to see your photos!
