Ingredients
1 (16-ounce) loaf (about 20 inches long) soft French bread
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 (8-ounce) package Land O Lakes® Provolone Cheese
12 ounces thinly sliced ham
10 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Yellow Deli American
8 ounces thinly sliced turkey
2 ounces pepperoni
2 ounces (about 3
4 cup) pepperoncini rings, drained, patted dry5 ounces (4 packed cups) chopped romaine lettuce
4 small (1 pound) tomatoes, thinly sliced, patted dry
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1
2 teaspoon kosher salt1
2 teaspoon pepper3
4 cup (3 ounces) red onion, thinly sliced1
2 cup zesty Italian salad dressingHow to make
-
STEP 1
Lay out overlapping sheets of plastic food wrap, about 20 inches wide and 8 inches longer than bread loaf. Remove bread loaf from bag; reserve bag. Slice loaf in half lengthwise. Place bottom half of bread in middle of plastic wrap.
-
STEP 2
Mix mayonnaise and mustard in small bowl; spread evenly over cut side of bottom half of bread. Layer with Provolone cheese, ham, Deli American, turkey, pepperoni, pepperoncini, lettuce and tomatoes. Sprinkle evenly with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Top evenly with red onion.
-
STEP 3
Place top half of bread, cut-side up, onto plastic wrap. Use fork to poke holes in cut side of bread; spread dressing evenly over bread, allowing it to soak in before placing top half of bread on sandwich.
-
STEP 4
Wrap sandwich securely with plastic food wrap; place wrapped sandwich into reserved bag. Refrigerate 2 hours before serving. If desired, place weighted baking sheet or plate on sandwich to help flavors meld and keep sandwich ingredients contained. (see Tip below)
-
STEP 5
To serve, carefully unwrap and insert wooden sandwich picks every 2 inches down length of sandwich. Slice sandwich between picks.
Tip #1
Weighting your sandwich down helps it hold together, making it easier to slice and eat. Place your wrapped sandwich on an empty refrigerator shelf, then set a rimmed baking sheet or plate on top of it, placing a few heavy cans or jars on the baking sheet.
