Italian Pizzelles
These nutmeg-flavored cookies, baked on a pizzelle iron, are crisp and light. Serve as a Christmas dessert or with a flavored coffee.

Ingredients

4 cup sugar1 1
2 cups all-purpose flour6 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter, melted, cooled
1 tablespoon baking powder

2 teaspoons ground nutmeg2 teaspoons vanilla
How to make

STEP 1
Beat eggs in bowl on high speed until thick and lemon-colored. Beat on medium speed, gradually adding sugar, until well mixed. Add all remaining ingredients; continue beating until smooth.

Heat electric pizzelle iron according to manufacturer’s directions.

Place rounded tablespoonful batter in center of heated pizzelle iron; close lid.

Bake 1-3 minutes or until evenly browned on both sides. Open iron; lift pizzelle off with thin spatula. Cool completely. Repeat with remaining batter. Store in loosely covered container.
Tip #1
If using a stovetop pizzelle iron, heat iron over medium heat. (Iron is hot when a drop of water sizzles when dropped on open iron.) Place 1 rounded tablespoonful of batter in center of heated pizzelle iron; close lid. Bake 1 minute; turn iron over. Continue baking 1- 2 minutes or until evenly browned on both sides. Open iron; lift pizzelle off with thin spatula.
