Orange Button Cookies

Ingredients

1 Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2 cup1
3 cup sugar1
3 cup firmly packed brown sugar1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest
1 tablespoon orange juice
4 drops yellow food color
2 drops red food color

4 cups all-purpose flour1
2 teaspoon baking powder3 tablespoons mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

STEP 1
Combine butter, sugar and brown sugar in bowl; beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add egg, orange zest, orange juice and food colors; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour and baking powder; beat at low speed until well mixed.

Divide dough in half; shape each half on lightly floured surface into 8-inch log. Wrap each in waxed paper. Refrigerate 2-3 hours or until very firm.

Heat oven to 400°F.

Cut logs into 1/4-inch slices with sharp knife. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Place 4 mini chocolate chips upside-down onto each cookie to resemble holes in buttons. Bake 6-7 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.

Place 1/4 cup chocolate chips and oil in bowl. Microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, 60-90 seconds or until melted.

Spoon melted chocolate into resealable plastic food bag; cut off 1 very small corner of bag. Pipe chocolate onto cookies in X-shape to connect button holes.
